My name is Monica Christiansen. I am a young artist in the Gilbert, AZ area. I live here in my hometown along with my husband.
I studied art for 5 semesters at Brigham Young University, Idaho. It is there also that I worked as a scene painter in the theatre department for three semesters. I now paint for the Hale Center Theatre here in Gilbert.
As an artist, my roots are in painting and drawing. Oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, and charcoal are my go to mediums; they are also my most refined skills.
Although I have a tendency to create pieces inspired by nature, my artistic style and inspiration are always evolving.
I see the beauty around me, and I want to be a part of it.
I am inspired by everything. Which can make it difficult to
answer for myself this question:
What to CREATE???
To which I respond:
If my inspiration is unlimited, should not my creations be limitless, as well?
And so, I have learned to EMBRACE MY CUE.
What is "my cue?"
Life gives us cues.
Random sparks of creativity, inviting us to act. I used to suppress these, in the effort to maintain a certain artistic "focus" or "direction" or "voice." But the yearnings to branch out and try new things are just too powerful to ignore!
And so I embrace my cue.
Because life just turns out better that way. And through my art I try to inspire others to find and embrace THEIR OWN cues. Because I believe that everyone deserves some adventure in their lives!
